Fun with sock puppets
That sweater or pair of socks you donated may just have been repurposed into something fun!
These fantastic sock cats were made by students aged 11 to 13 as part of an enrichment program at Central Middle School. Using wool donated by WIN, students choose from a variety of projects to complete using wool that has been preshrunk by the instructor as part of a quick felting process. Students are shown different projects on Pinterest and then supported to choose projects based on ideas that inspire them. Popular items to make have been sock cats, sock monkeys, fingerless gloves, ipod holders, slippers, slipper socks, and wallets. Linen and clothing donations never go to waste at WIN. Many go into our stores, others go to partner organizations to distribute to the community, some, like the wool in this story, get donated to other causes and anything unusable gets recycled.
