Donation of Goods

WIN is grateful for donations of gently used clothing for women, men, and children, along with accessories, jewelry, books, linens, toys, furniture, and household items. In order to help us keep our costs down, please check out our quality standards guidelines for more information about donating to Women in Need.
We are pleased to announce that we have extended our hours of operation at both our housewares and clothing/linen donation centres in order to make donating more convenient for you!

If you have furniture you would like to donate but cannot transport it yourself, we offer a furniture pick-up service in the Greater Victoria area. Please note that because our resources are limited we can only offer this service twice per week and therefore often book 2-3 weeks in advance. For more information, call (250) 389-2203 ext 2 or fill out our furniture donation form and we'll contact you.

Estate Donations
We are grateful for donations of estates.  To arrange a pick-up for an estate, please contact us at

About donating to WIN

Why we can't accept everything
When we accept items that do not meet our quality standards, we are forced to incur the disposal costs. Mending, repairing or restoring donations is not affordable for us as it takes money away from our goodworks.

Inside the donation centre
After your donations are dropped off, we determine whether or not they meet our quality standards and then sort them into categories. They are then either given directly to women in our stores through the GIft Certificate and Community Gifts in Kind programs or sold at affordable prices to community members in order to fund our other programs.

When we do have to dispose of things

We do everything in our power to do so ethically.  This means diverting as much as possible from the landfill through a comprehensive recycling system as well as regular donations to other organizations, such as the Compassionate Resource Warehouse, who may be able to use items which we cannot.
