We try our best to provide women in our programs with the best quality items that we can. Donations that do not go directly to women in our programs are sold in our Resale Shops at affordable prices to our customers. As we do not use any government funding, we rely on the sales in our stores to be able to run the programs for women in our community. For this reason we do need to have high quality standards for the every item that we accept. The cost to repair, recycle or otherwise dispose of unusable donations is not affordable for us. Please see our Donation Guideline for details.

Community Cheer Campaign

Help us reach our goal of $10,000 this December.

Happy Holidays to our friends in the community! As you know, every December we run our annual Community Cheer Campaign! It’s time to cheer together for women’s empowerment! Our goal is to fundraise $10,000, during the month of December, and all monetary donations made this month will go straight to two of our five programs: our Self Sufficiency Program and our Transformations Program. Thank you so much to our wonderful community for always helping us in empowering women!

How can you help?

1)       Buy a 2020 Calendar from WIN! This year, for the first time, we are selling 2020 Calendars with photos of our beautiful Victoria. 100% of the calendar proceeds will go towards our Community Cheer Campaign.

2)       If you are a WIN shopper, please consider rounding up your purchase to the nearest dollar. Every amount counts.

3)       Make a monetary donation at any WIN store directly at the till, or go to www.womeninneed.ca/donate to contribute online

4)       Send us a cheque with your donation, payable to Victoria Women in Need Community Cooperative. Cheques can be mailed to 785 Pandora Ave, Victoria BC V8W 1N9

Understand our Programs

Our WIN Self Sufficiency Program empowers women to pursue further education, to develop a small business or to embark upon another practical solution that has a significant step along their journey to financial self sufficiency. Last year, WIN was able to provide over $27,000 in bursaries to support women towards achieving their goals!

Our WIN Transformations Program allows women to develop effective communication skills, recognize and change familiar behaviour patterns, foster healthy and fulfilling relationships, establish personal responsibility, define and express personal boundaries, and explore opportunities to make changes in their lives along their journey to self-compassion and wellness. Last year, 16 women participated in this intensive personal development education program.

About WIN

WIN has been, for over 28 years, present in the community and supporting women along their journeys towards a more fulfilled life. As you have probably heard, WIN operates five resale shops in Victoria and Langford. The revenue from our shops, together with financial donations, covers the entire cost of running our nonprofit cooperative and funds our five empowerment programs for women. Each year we support over one thousand women along with their journey between crisis, financial self-sufficiency and wellness. Our programs are there for women along each step of their journey. When you shop, donate and volunteer at WIN, you are supporting the health of our community.

In 2019, we have been recognized as Non-Profit of the Year, by the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce, and we have also received the Royal Roads University’s Chancellor Community Recognition Award.

WIN’s Annual Impact:

As you can appreciate, the community’s participation in our success is essential so that we are able to deliver our programs. In 2018, WIN was able to:

-        Support 453 women through our Crisis and Referral Program,

-        Provide 532 Gift Certificates valued at $39,538 through 16 partner organizations,

-        Provide 70 New Starts so that women leaving transition houses could set up their new homes for themselves and their families,

-        Provide 32 Self Sufficiency Bursaries totalling $27,805 supporting women to pursue further education, to develop a small business or to embark upon another practical solution that has a significant step along their journey to financial self sufficiency, and finally,

-        Have 16 women join the Transformations Program

Help us reach our goal of $10,000 this December.

Pick-ups by our Truck:

If you have furniture you would like to donate but cannot transport it yourself, we offer a furniture pick-up service in selected areas of Victoria and Langford. Due to our limited resources, this service is often booked with 1-3 weeks in advance.

For more information, fill out our furniture donation form and we'll contact you, or call us at 250-480-4006 ext 204. We find that a picture of the goods you would like to donate makes it a lot easier for us to plan our pick-ups, and you can attach these to the furniture donation form (or email them to win@womeninneed.ca).
