Donation Guidelines
We gratefully accept gently used Houseware and Clothing donations at our Donation Centre which is located at 555 Ardersier Rd.
The things that we accept include:
Generally speaking, this are items we can accept. Our Donation Centre will have a quick look before agreeing to bring your donated items inside. The ensures that the items we accept will work for our programs.

-Decorative items (including art)
-Gently used / like-new kitchen items
-Antique, vintage and collectable items
-Electronics (including TV’s with HDMI ports)
-Small appliances (such as microwaves and toaster ovens etc. that are in excellent condition)
-Toys
-Books
-Art, craft and stationary items
-Small rugs
-When possible we will gratefully accept larger sized houseware items such as rugs and large art pieces.
-If you are unsure about an item, please get in touch and we would be happy to help*Please note that we cannot accept Text Books and Encyclopedias

-Adult and children’s clothing for all genders
-Jewelry
-Purses
-Shoes
-Hats, belts, gloves, scarves
-Undergarments and socks
-Bed & bath linens
*Please note, we do not accept clothing for recycling. Please ensure that clothing is new, or gently used, and in excellent condition. -
-Loveseats
-Living Room Chairs
-Small Kitchen Tables and Chairs
-Coffee tables and end tables
-Small dressers (without a mirror)
-Table Lamps
-Larger size décor / art
-Mattress and boxspring sets (single-queen size)*Please also be aware that we may not be able to accept some pieces due to our limited warehouse and store space and we can only accept upholstered furniture from pet free and smoke free homes. Items that are not appropriate for our programs or stores:
There are a few items that we ask our donors to recycle using alternative resources. This allows us to save money on the costs of disposal and recycling which means we can use it for programs instead. We cannot accept items that are damaged, soiled, rusted, incomplete, excessively worn or in need of repairs/cleaning.

-No large appliances (fridge, stove, washer, dryer), blinds and curtain rods, ceiling fans, and carpeting with unfinished edges

-No entertainment units and tv stands or wall units
-No mechanical beds, bunkbeds, folding cots, hide-a-bed, futon or waterbeds
-No reclining sofas or electric chairs -
-No car seats or carry seats, cribs and playpens, helmets, swings and walkers, bathtubs and tub-seats, high chairs and potties, change tables, basinets, baby gates, strollers.

-TV's without HDMI ports, fax machines, printers, built in sewing machines or any electronics that don't work
-
-No chemicals, paint, propane tanks, camping fuel or any other hazardous materials
Donating at Hillside Shopping Centre Guest Services:
Hillside Centre accepts gently worn clothing and small fashion accessories on our behalf. Visit their Guest Services page to learn more.
Requesting a pick-up:
If you would like to organize an estate donation, or have a large quantity of houseware donations in excellent condition, fill out our Furniture & Housewares Pick-up Form.
*please note that we do not offer pick-ups for clothing.
