Donating Furniture

We are grateful for your furniture donations and to make things easier, you can now donate in two ways:

  • If you would like to book a truck pick-up in the Central Victoria Area, click here to fill out our Furniture and Estate pick-up form.

    *Please note that our staff have the final say on what we are able to accept based on space and other considerations.

  • Furniture drop offs are at our Home Shop, next to our Cook St location (1803 Cook St), with the Home Shop entrance being on the North Park side of the building. Drop offs are accepted during business hours only, and items left outside the store will not be accepted. Please call the shop ahead of time to make sure they have room for your items (250-590-5137) or send an email at homeshop@womeninneed.ca. As we have a limited space and must prioritize what is most useful to our programs and stores staff have the right to refuse donations.

    *Note that donors are solely responsible for unloading all items into the store, so be sure to have someone with you to help lift for larger items.

  • To help cover rising maintenance and operational costs, a non-refundable $40 + GST truck usage fee has been introduced. This fee supports the upkeep of our vehicles so they remain safe, reliable, and ready for continued service.

    *Note that the truck usage fee does not guarantee donation acceptance. Items must meet our quality standards for use in our programs, or to sell in our shops in support of our programs. Final decisions are made by our transportation manager.

We try our best to provide program participants in our New Start Program with the best quality items that we can. Furniture that does not go into our New Start deliveries is sold in our WIN Home Shop at affordable prices to our customers. We rely on the revenue from our stores to be able to run our empowerment programs for women, trans, non-binary, and Two-Spirit people. For this reason have high quality standards for the furniture that we accept. The cost to repair, recycle, or dispose of unusable furniture is not affordable for us.


Please also be aware that we may not be able to accept some pieces due to our limited warehouse and store space and we can only accept upholstered furniture from pet-free and smoke-free homes.
